Nonpartisanship and Elections

This statement governs all election-related content on NISWOSAKIT (the websites at niswosakit.com and woonsocket.info, the "Site"), including voter guides, candidate information, and any candidate comparison or alignment feature. It forms part of the Terms of Use.

1. Official election information

The Site's voting content is provided as a convenience and does not replace the official record. For voter registration, polling locations, deadlines, and ballot content, the official sources are the Rhode Island Department of State (vote.sos.ri.gov) and your local board of canvassers. You should confirm any matter affecting your vote with those sources. Where the Site and an official source conflict, the official source controls.

2. Independence and non-coordination

NISWOSAKIT is independent. It is not affiliated with, coordinated with, or funded by any candidate, campaign, political committee, political party, or governmental body. No content on the Site is paid political advertising. We accept no funds from any campaign. Contributions to the project support the project generally and are not contributions to, or coordinated with, any candidate, campaign, or committee.

3. Nature of candidate information

Where the Site describes where candidates or officials appear to stand on documented issues, that information is nonpartisan and is compiled from public records and the individuals' own public statements, with each item attributed to its source. Such information reflects our good-faith opinion and analysis based on disclosed facts, is maintained as an ongoing resource rather than published as a pre-election communication, and is open to challenge and correction.

4. Not an endorsement or voting advice

Candidate information is not an endorsement of or opposition to any candidate and does not advise or instruct anyone how to vote. It is not the official record. Positions are summarized from cited public sources and may be incomplete or out of date. Where our summary and a candidate's own current statement conflict, the candidate's own statement controls.

5. Standards for candidate content

• Candidate content addresses a broad range of public issues across the project's subject areas and is not limited to a single issue.
• Candidates are assessed against the public record, not against the views of NISWOSAKIT.
• Each item is attributed to a supporting vote, filing, or public statement. Where the public record is insufficient, the item is marked as unrated rather than inferred.
• Any characterization of a candidate's position is identified as a contestable interpretation, not a statement of fact, and is accompanied by a means to submit a contrary source.
• Candidates and officials may submit a statement for inclusion and may request corrections through the Corrections and Right of Reply process.

6. Corrections

To report an error in election-related content, contact contact@niswosakit.com with a supporting source. Corrections are handled as described in the Corrections and Right of Reply statement.
